Transfer Planning

Careful planning is required for you to successfully transfer to a four-year institution (CSU, UC, independent college or university). Creating a transfer plan that incorporates admission and lower division GE, major, and elective requirements is key. Additional information is available via the links in the left-navigation bar and under the sections below.

Important Dates and Deadlines

NOTICE TO FALL 2010 TRANSFER APPLICANTS TO CSU AND UC: Due to the State of California's unprecedented budget shortfall funding for student enrollment in the California State University (CSU) and University of California (UC) systems has been dramatically reduced for the 2010-2011 admissions cycle. As a result, students can improve their chances for admission to the CSU or UC by submitting an application as soon as the application filing period opens.

The three segments of higher education in California are highlighted here, but coursework from De Anza College may be used to transfer to out-of-state institutions as well. Students are advised to contact the Admission Offices of each prospective transfer institution and work closely with their advising staff and a De Anza College counselor or academic advisor to better prepare for transfer.

Caution: The final responsibility for a successful transfer program rests with the student. Resources online and at De Anza College are designed to assist you in getting as accurate information as possible. This information changes frequently, however, and can impact your admission to the university. It is highly advised that you meet periodically with advisors at both De Anza College and at the prospective university to confirm your choice of classes and develop an educational plan.
